Reminiscing…

Five months ago, I stood in front of the church with Lis, saying our wedding vows. It was the most incredible, wonderful moment of my life – pledging my lifetime of love and dedication to Lis. Though our honeymoon has passed, and we’ve settled back into our daily life, I still constantly think back to that day, 11th June. Each friend’s wedding I attend gets my heart fluttering as I reminisce our own wedding.

I tell Lis that I constantly feel for my wedding band on my finger. Wearing the wedding band reminds me that I’m not dreaming, that I’m married to the love of my life. Knowing I have Lis, knowing that each day, I’m going home to her, makes me look forward to every day. I thank God for Lis, because Lis, I feel, completes me.

Happy Five Months of blissful marriage Lis

Three months on…

Last Sunday marked three months of married life. Has it only been three months? It sure felt longer!

I still get asked, “So how’s married life?” And I still say, “Great!” or “Fantastic!” because married life really is wonderful, and I enjoy every moment of life with Lis.

On Saturday night, we headed out to Werner’s Oven in Siglap for our sort-of-pre-three-month-anniversary dinner.

We had: Beef goulash, German bread basket and Gruenkohl (kale with sausage, ham and potatoes). The food was delicious, though the Gruenkohl was a bit on the salty side. We both enjoyed the freshly baked breads.

On Sunday, after lunch with my parents, we headed to Yahava, our current favourite coffee joint, where we had Iced Koffees, and sat and browsed a coffee magazine.

What a way to spend our weekend and month-versary. :)

Jon spotted this promotion online, 1 for 1 7 course dinner at Private Affairs. They serve fusion food.  The menu sounds good, so off we went to celebrate our 2nd month anniversary.

We made reservations but we didn’t have to. The restaurant has only 2 tables of customers, but that might be cos it’s a weekday.

p/s: The glasses are slanted, I love it.

1st course: Cured Salmon (with beetroot, avruga carviar and orange dressing)

The salmon isn’t too salty, coupled with the sweet orange it’s refreshing. The beetroot serves no purpose though. It tasted pretty bland to me.

2nd course: Capelli (seared scallop, pasta with truffle oil and parmesan cheese)

We’re scallop and truffle lovers, so we enjoyed this. The scallop was very fresh, the pasta infused with truffle oil. Yum!

3rd course: Pan fried foie gras (with  banana puree and chocolate peanut butter glaze)

This is a piece of good foie gras. I’ve had soggy foie gras before and it was disgusting. This foie gras is very crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. The brown little dots are actually banana puree, but they’re so-so. The 2 slices of banana on the other hand, are yummy! They’re glazed with burnt sugar. Coupled with the chocolate sauce, I was very happy after this course.

4th course: Lobster bisque

The broth is thick and very ‘lobster-y’, obviously they spent quite some time making the soup. One thing though, there were only a few slivers of lobster meat. Very sad leh.

Main course: (above) Roasted seabass. (below) Beef tenderloin.

The sea bass was nicely done, though I didn’t particularly enjoy the celery mousse-like thingy. I don’t like celery. The potatoes are cooked with warm egg yolk and mustard, so it’s smooth and tangy, quite a nice change from the usual potato salad. The 2 little round pieces are crab meat patties. Yum!

The beef tenderloin was cooked medium-rare according Jon’s request (still looks raw and slimy to me but he likes it). He enjoyed the tenderloin and the mushroom ragout in truffle sauce.

6th course: Artisan cheese (blue cheese, Swiss cheese and caramel walnut)

Blue cheese *shudders* I had a tiny mouth of it, not a pleasant experience. However, in Jon’s words, “This is the best blue cheese I’ve ever eaten! It’s so smooth and creamy….” and he finished both his share and my share of the blue cheese. Must really be good. I am no cheese connoisseur obviously. The Swiss cheese was bland. The highlight was the caramel walnut cos it’s so DELICIOUS. They gave me too little. Wonder if they sell a jar of those?

Last course: Pear tart with vanilla ice cream

The pastry is really buttery, the pear is tangy, coupled with the crumbs of sugary goodness on the tart, it’s a nice wrap up to the meal. The ice cream’s not very good though. I love vanilla ice cream so I could be picky, Jon finds it alright. On a unrelated note, I love how the plate is dressed up with polka dots!

We’ve a 30% off coupon bought online, so we’ll be back to sample other dishes. Though to be honest, if we didn’t have the coupon, we probably won’t go back again. I guess fusion food’s not really for us!

First month wedding anniversary

We’ve been married for a month ( and more!)

To celebrate a month of marriage, we went to dinner at Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken Restaurant. We both enjoyed the food, especially the chicken soup.

Jon also got me a Pandora bracelet, with charms signifying each milestone we’ve  made together. I love it! Can’t wait to add more memories to the bracelet.
